Are you a good judge of character?
My mother told me that when I was little I would stare at people to size them up without saying a word. But she didn’t need to tell me that I did it, I remember doing it. I did it even before I could talk. I can imagine a baby silently observing an adult would be a little unnerving for the adult. As I got older and continued to do it, people would say that I was a brat or spoiled or whatever other hurtful phrases they sputtered because they were afraid. These were people that had something to hide. I’m not quite as obvious about it anymore. I do it with every person I meet, it’s not an ability that I can control. I sense the essence of a person, whether good or otherwise, without them ever saying a word. I was born this way. There are other attributes of claircognizance. Check out this page for more information about the phenomenon. Do any of you have the ability? Or any other ability that seems unique to you? I’d love to read your comments!

Intuition, and and yes, I guess claircognisance. Thanks for highlighting that, I can relate to the way I was as a child too, summing people up, even with the wisdom of hindsight.

Young children don’t have layers of insight, they act from a place of innocence. Their sizing people up is untouched by adult-assigned meanings. So in that regard, I think it’s something one is born with. Fascinating stuff.

It is. Ultimately I have found that both things come into play as I journey through life.

They do. But if I get the initial feeling that I’ve always gotten, I trust that first and tread cautiously.

In my reply to this question, I referred to this as my Spidey sense. Mostly because I did not know it had a proper name lol
But I can relate to the feeling you cite quite well. One of the guys I used to work with couldn’t believe how often I was on the mark with people, even when everyone else thought they were the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I wasn’t perfect by any means, but I had a pretty good batting average overall.

Yep, that’s what it is. I’m not 100% accurate either, but I would say my average is pretty good. On several occasions, I’ve had people tell me that they should’ve listened to my warnings. Lol

Same here! lol
Sometimes it was just a gut feeling, but other times there were what I considered definite red flags, but apparently I was the only one who saw them.
I’ve also been on the other side of being misjudged, so I do try to keep that in mind when my inner alarm goes off as well.

Same. no one wants to be misjudged, so I don’t always mention it to others right away when I get a red flag from someone.

Yep, indeed. Unless I sense trouble coming very quickly, I keep it in my back pocket for a length of time TBD.
Nothing worse than sounding the battle cry only to find out it was a false alarm.
Great insights! Thanks much for sharing them!

Do you find you have to see them in person to be able to execute this skill?

Nope. The information becomes available in my brain.

That’s fascinating. Do you ever find this skill to cause you any difficulties in any way? Have you always trusted what you read in a person without doubt? Has anyone ever proven your initial impression wrong? Xx
