Write about your dream home.
I close my eyes at night and I see it: the house of my dreams. I open my eyes in the morning, and I see it: the house of my dreams.
This prompt didn’t invoke my writing reflex, rather a reflective state of mind. A punctuation in time where a song and a photo have collided.

The song:
Our House
Song by David Crosby, Graham Nash, and Stephen Stills
I’ll light the fire, you place the flowers
In the vase that you bought today
Staring at the fire for hours and hours
While I listen to you play your love songs
All night long for me, only for me
Come to me now, and rest your head for just five minutes
Everything is done
Such a cozy room, the windows are illuminated
By the evening sunshine through them
Fiery gems for you, only for you
Our house, is a very, very, very fine house
With two cats in the yard
Life used to be so hard
Now everything is easy ’cause of you
And now…
Now everything is easy ’cause of you
And now…
I’ll light the fire, while you place the flowers
In the vase that you bought today

Sometimes “enough” is exactly what we need. I don’t think you can ask much more from a home than that. Great moment of reflection, Amy.

Thanks Kevin. If it’s not enough the way it is, it’s not a home, it’s a house. It should be a safe, comforting place. This prompt assumes a lot. Many people don’t have a home nor a house nor room to dream about either one.

A lot of these prompts assume a lot, which is why I am glad you, and others, often take the opportunity to turn them on their ear and make something meaningful or fun out of them. I guess in that regard, they are successful.

Thanks. Yes, you’re right in that regard, they are successful. I’m going to go out on a limb and say some bloggers on wordPress don’t know what it’s like to have a home or a safe place to rest their heads. That’s why I consistently turn these prompts upside down and sideways.

I would wager you are spot on with that estimation. Not everyone posting here seems to have a rosy red existence. If they did, some of them might not even be posting here. This is probably one of their few outlets.

Thanks. They were funny. One was in love with the other. But she would have none of it. If he looked at her sideways, she would smack him. She only let him share the window with him if he didn’t look at her.😂
I hope you will live in a house like the one you daydream about. ♥️

😂 what a great pair!
Thanks. I hope so too. Prices must go down, and the market must stabilize. If all goes well, I’ might buy a place in 2026, but it might be a small apartment at first before I can afford a house unless a miracle happens.

Fingers crossed for you. A small apartment is a very good starter home.😊

It sure is. I have already started planning how I’m gonna lay out the furniture 😂 multiple years in advance. That’s because I know the layout of the place I might buy. I do hope for a 2 bedroom apartment at the very least, but a 1 bedroom might suffice as well. It all depends on the pricing when I’m ready to buy.
