Poetry, Music

Daily writing prompt
What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

This prompt is underwhelming. For those who want to read my poetry, check it out. It’s all here on this blog.

My musical taste is eccentric, just like my personality. The only thing that isn’t my jam is country music. I do like Chris Stapleton, but that is where it ends.

I don’t have a poem to accompany today’s prompt.

I’m going to leave this video and lyrics here. The song sums up my poetry journey so far this year, and I love Jason Mraz’s music.

Details in the Fabric

Jason Mraz

Calm down
Deep breaths
And get yourself dressed instead
Of running around
And pulling on your threads saying
Breaking yourself up

If it’s a broken part, replace it
If it’s a broken arm then brace it
If it’s a broken heart then face it

And hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way

Hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way
And everything will be fine

Hang on
Help is on the way
Stay strong
I’m doing everything

Hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way

Hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way

And everything, everything will be fine
Everything

Are the details in the fabric
Are the things that make you panic
Are your thoughts results of static cling?

Are the things that make you blow
Hell, no reason, go on and scream
If you’re shocked it’s just the fault
Of faulty manufacturing

Everything will be fine
Everything in no time at all
Everything

Hold your own
And know your name
Go your own way

Are the details in the fabric (Hold your own, know your name)
Are the things that make you panic
Are your thoughts results of static cling? (Go your own way)

Are the details in the fabric (Hold your own, know your name)
Are the things that make you panic (Go your own way)
Is it Mother Nature’s sewing machine?

Are the things that make you blow (Hold your own, know your name)
Hell no reason go on and scream
If you’re shocked it’s just the fault (Go your own way)
Of faulty manufacturing

Everything will be fine
Everything in no time at all
Hearts will hold

  1. I’m not a huge country guy either, but I do like a few songs and truly love “That’s Damn Rock and Roll” by Eric Church. If you’ve not heard it, you should check it out. 👍

    1. That is a good song. Is this considered country music? it doesn’t sound like country to me. It sounds like rock with blues and a guy with a country accent singing. It reminds me a bit of George Thorogood who I absolutely love.

      1. That’s what today’s country music is: rock music sung with a twang. It’s not real country music, and I hate it.

  2. What? You don’t like country music? 😂 What about Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”? 🤣 I’m with you, not a big country fan either. Well, except for Dolly. By the way, the photo is very cute.

    1. I like Dolly. I like 9 to 5. That’s kind of catchy. I like Patsy Cline. Some of those older 50s country stars maybe, but in general, I am not a fan.
Thanks. Started early with the sassy facial expressions. 😆
