I live in the Northern Hemisphere, so summer will be starting in June. I live on the East Coast of the US where it gets very hot and very humid in the summer. Not so long ago, the heat and the humidity didn’t bother me. Since I’ve had this migraine diagnosis, I’ve learned migraine brain does not like heat nor humidity.
But Amy‘s brain can do whatever it likes.
The rest of Amy likes walking in the cool, soft grass with bare feet, wearing sundresses, feeling the warmth of the air and the sun on her skin, seeing the trees, lush in all their summertime greenness, smelling the warm air and hints of a storm brewing. (Her birthday is also in the summer, so maybe she is biased towards the season.) Sitting under a canopy of leaves looking for four leaf clover while sipping an iced tea or eating an ice cream bar is considered the finer things in life. Peeking out the window as it gets closer to lightning bug season, waiting for the first bioluminescent buggy butt still brings her great joy after many years. She still squeals when she sees it. Watching the bunny rabbits play late into the night when it is still light out is one of her other favorite sights. Spotting hummingbirds is at the top of the list of Exciting Events. Chasing butterflies with a phone camera is a close second, although the butterflies do not feel the same, and she thinks they even give her the side eye as they fly away. No matter. She will chase rainbows after a heavy storm and wait for the butterflies to return.

Yes, I took all of these photos. And yes, none of these creatures were happy about it. My neighbors likely believe me to be just a touch off…but it’s not my fault. They won’t stop for the camera and I have to chase them down, yelling for them to please stop and just let me take the photo.

Summer is my favorite weather as well. In Sweden we have 4 seasons and the summers are usually cold. 20 degrees celsius is considered to be hot (68F). The Spanish thinks that’s winter 😂.
Recently we have had some really hot summers due to climate change. I like the warmer summers, but the lack of rain is a huge problem when that happens. Usually our summers are around 20-24 degrees celsius with lots of rain in between.

68°F is spring here. Not too far off from what the Spaniards think.😂
Here, it’s hot and getting hotter (95F it’s not uncommon), but we’ve always always had plenty of thunderstorms to go along with the heat. the heat causes the thunderstorms. I can’t imagine what it would be like with heat and no rain. Where I live, the weather gets “soupy” – the air gets thick with humidity. some days it’s unbearable. But then I think about winter and then I quiet myself. 😉😊

Thanks, Mary! I’m glad you’re summer girl. I had to chase those critters down for those photos. But it was worth it! 😊

Isn’t he cute? The bunnies live under my shed. They frolic in my front yard. Shortly after frolicking happens, 500 new baby bunnies arrive in my yard. 😆

Wonderful photos, Amy. I’m from Puerto Rico but I hate the heat and humidity. When I was in college I used to take like four showers during day because it was so freaking hot and humid. That’s the reason I settled in Illinois. Weather is perfect in my opinion, and I can enjoy all four seasons.

Thanks, Edward. If you don’t like the heat and humidity, I’m glad you live in Illinois. 😊
But the school bus rides with salsa music? Unbeatable.

I know, that part was great. I’m not sure what happened between ages 13/14 and 19/20 until now. I guess I’m getting old. 😂

Awesome blog post Amy. You are very good at this writing thing. I see awesome pictures as well. I too prefer summer as the season of sunlight and coolness.
I used to love Winter but it is so damn cold and one cannot even go outside and enjoy the company of the people.
Have a blessed Sunday💕🙏

Oh by the way Amy, I am from Eswatini, The kingdom of Swaziland and over here, it rains in the highveld but at the lowveld it is usually sunny. Rarely any sign of a snow here in one of Africa’s smallest Kingdom🇸🇿
Have great day my friend💕🙌

Nothing beats North American Summers!
The part about, Amy’s brain” and “the rest of Amy” reminded me from that bit from Fight Club; namely, the books that were written as parts of Jack’s body: “I am Jack‘s brain…” etc.

Quite fitting. My brain beat itself up yesterday from the bad weather. Migraine times 5000. Today, Amy’s body is feeling the effects. I might be part of Fight Club. But the first rule of Fight Club… and now we’re back at today’s prompt. 🤣
