A Cat

Daily writing prompt
Which animal would you compare yourself to and why?

If you’ve been with me for a while, you knew this answer was coming. Why would I compare myself to a cat? Why not?

Here’s what cats and I have in common: When we like you, you will know it. When we don’t like you, you will know it. We don’t give our affections to just anyone, we choose the people who won’t look at us. Duh. We will welcome you after you’ve been away for a long time, but we will not run up to greet you and lick your face. That is uncouth. Instead, we will wait the perfunctory 3 to 5 business days to say hello to you, because you left, and that was not approved.

(I love dogs, have had several, and you guys know that I love my friend Petey. The insinuation of dogs being uncouth is a joke.)

Here are some photos of me training to be a cat:

Introductions are made.
The initial phase begins.
Phase 2 has been reached.
Just two cats chilling in the grass.
My transformation into a cat is fully realized. Susie is not impressed.

Not My Dog©️ – Petey

This is a new series. I previously posted. Star, who is Not My Cat©️. Because I love all animals, let’s talk about dogs.

This is my friend Petey. His full name is Peter, but his mom only calls him Peter if he is in trouble.

Petey is my neighbor’s dog. I’ve known him since he was a puppy. He is now about two years old. He gets very excited to see me when we greet each other at the back fence. One time he peed a little, he was so happy to see me. I take that as a great honor. (But it’s only an honor for dogs, not people.)

When I first met Petey, it was at the fence. I never saw him outside of the fence until I went to a party at his house. He could not believe I had legs. After the party, I returned to my home, and again was trapped by the fence, legless.

I don’t see Petey very often, but when I do, I run out the front door to chase him down when he’s on a walk. Or, if he’s in the backyard, I will wave, but I will try not to disrupt him from his resting spot in the sun. I saw him Friday afternoon while he was walking. I chased him down and he came back. He was excited to see me, and he was wearing a cap.

Petey is a mutt. He is very cute and I love him.

Pink

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, this entire post will be devoted to the color pink. Pink is my second favorite color, although from this post, you probably would assume it is my first or only favorite color. Anyway, back to pink. Maybe also the artist, Pink. And there’s a song I’m thinking of that may be pertinent to this post – where are my Aerosmith fans? Happy Valentine’s Day, friends. I hope this day is all that you wish for. And if you don’t like this day, I feel you. Guess what tomorrow is? A new day. It won’t be Valentine’s Day. Plus, ✨candy✨ is 75% off tomorrow. Win!

Hi, it’s me. I thought I’d introduce myself.
Not gonna lie, I’m in love with this pink wig.
