A Hummingbird Nest

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever found (and kept)?

It’s in a shadowbox in my living room. I will treasure it forever.

    1. Very, very small. Fits in the palm of your hand. Made soft for the eggs with spider silk and fluff from who knows where. The base is twigs, intricately woven. It’s a marvel.

      1. They are constant movement. I had to look up how they sleep, because the nests are very small, so small that they can only hold eggs. It seems the female hummingbird sleeps only in the nest while incubating the eggs, but not always. The male hummingbird never sleeps in the nest, and the female hummingbird sleeps outside of the nest most of the time, but she is nearby. Hummingbirds sleep on a branch upside down. It’s called Torpor. They don’t use birdhouses, because they don’t like being confined in small spaces (this made me laugh, since they are about the size of a thumbnail), so they will use a tree branch with big leaves to shield them while they sleep. Now, for a hummingbird, a big leaf could be what we consider a small leaf. Hence, why she nested in my clematis. The clematis has densely packed vines and leaves with large blooms. There are fuzzy filaments in the center of the blooms, and there are spiders in their webs at every corner. I’ll be sure to cater to my clematis this winter and early spring,
so that the hummingbird will come back to it. In mid- to late spring, I will be the weirdo four feet away from the clematis, in my house, with binoculars glued to my eyes.

      2. Chirping of birds: a forgotten memory!
There is a saying in English: “Change is the law of nature”. The essential result of change is development. In every period of history man has progressed. In the name of development, man tried to improve his life. In this effort, he has caused a lot of damage to nature. This process of man’s domination over nature is still going on. This series is not taking the name of stopping but it is increasing day by day. As a result of these inhuman activities of man, many animals and plants have become extinct
