Do you ever see wild animals?
Yes, I work with them every day. Oh. You mean the kind that live outside? Sure, I see them, too. Now, Daily Prompt, it’s nap time. You’ve been asking questions like this all week and I think you’ve had too much sugar. It’s probably the gummy vitamins. Time to go sleep it off.

While you mock this prompt for being infantile on the surface, I find some deeper meaning to it. Admittedly, it does sound like something from a “See & say the farmer says” toy. But like a lot of these prompts, it took me down a rabbit hole.
I live in a suburb of Detroit, having grown up here and moved back recently. All in all, I have spent roughly half of my life in this area. My parents continued living in this area inti my adulthood. I have seen more wild animals here in the last 3 years than I ever saw in the rest of my life. Deer sighting are much more commonplace than years past. It’s no longer unusual to see Fox and coyote – two animals I’ve NEVER seen in this area – either.
I think this speaks a lot to the continued destruction of these animals natural habitats. One would think this would eventually level off; but it’s only getting worse..

Thanks for your comment. I’m not mocking, it’s all a creative endeavor, depending on what the prompt…prompts. I could have written about the devastation that I see on a daily basis, but I chose lighthearted this morning. I use these prompts as a writing exercise. Whatever comes forth on the page is what is exorcised. Thanks again for your comment.

I hear ya, and I apologize for sounding preachy. Unfortunately it’s sometimes hard to pick up on tone in written text, especially digitally.
I was writing today on the “what is one thing you would change about yourself” prompt. I thought I might get a paragraph from it and I ended doing a nice of research as I wrote.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks! And no worries. I often find deciphering tone difficult, especially in text messages – that is a writing “exorcism” in itself. These prompts are certainly doing what they’re meant to do. Glad you could dive deeper than you had planned with yours.
