Daily writing prompt
Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.

This DIY project is a lot more than I bargained for. The structure is OK, except for the neck area. That area has been condemned. Overall though, the structure is solid, though antique. It’s a registered historical site. The progress is slow, but the work continues. (The neck might need some scaffolding, though.)

These are the structure’s problem areas

      1. I actually have more Neanderthal than most people, believe it or not. But when it comes to throwing axes, I’m avoiding all circles. I’m glad it was a short term arrangement and I hope you learned what you needed to learn from that lesson.

  1. As a member of the trashy neck brigade, I feel your pain, no pun intended. Definitely one of the crummier things I’ve dealt with in the last couple years. Mines not condemned quite yet, but it’s in need of reinforcement. lol

      1. I used to go to one for years, but since I’ve had vertigo, no one can touch my neck. Not a PT, not a chiropractor, no one. Even occipital nerve blocks made it worse. I joked that I need a neck-ectomy.

  2. Your DIY project sounds like a unique and challenging endeavor, especially with the complexity of working on a structure that’s not only antique but also a registered historical site. Taking on such a project requires not just skill but a deep respect for the craftsmanship and history involved. The mention of the neck area needing scaffolding adds an intriguing layer of complexity and suggests a blend of preservation and innovation in your approach.

Given the historical significance and the specific challenges you’ve encountered, what inspired you to take on this project, and how do you navigate the balance between maintaining its historical integrity and making necessary modern updates?
