Daily writing prompt
Describe a phase in life that was difficult to say goodbye to.
Difficult to say goodbye to
Something you can’t remember
Where did that year go?
From September to September
I don’t remember being six
I only remember seven
And five
Four
Three
Too much trauma for
One little brain

Ouch! My heart truly aches when I read some of your work, Amy. These are beautifully powerful, emotional gut-punches.
Keep up the great work!

Thanks Rob. I appreciate your comments. Not everyone wants to comment on these. And I appreciate you telling me to keep up the great work. Not everyone wants to read these. But it’s OK, it’s not their journey. And I only give out flowers, butterflies and unicorns on the first Wednesday of every month. 😊

Lump in the throat. I have a lot of compassion for that six year old. Thank you for your vulnerability.

Thanks, David. I’ve posted a few poems here about that portion of my life – spans about a year and a half, maybe two – that I don’t remember at all.

I have big gaps from birth to around age 6. Our brains have a magnificent ability to care for us like that.

They do. But I think it hide somewhere in our brain where we can’t remember, but we feel the memory. There are always triggers that come out of the blue, but I can’t connect it with a memory. If that makes sense.
