Sleep

Daily writing prompt
What do you wish you could do more every day?

Sleep has eluded me for several months now. I think it’s avoiding me. Are we on a break? Is Sleep cheating on me? Now that I think of it, I’m awake in the middle of the night – where is Sleep? Not with me. Not in the hallway, Not even in the house. Very suspicious indeed…

      1. Stress-related insomnia is the worst of the worst. At times like that, all I can do is exercise like a madman and hop that i get myself too tired, or too sore, to care about my stressors.

Hang in there, Amy. Better times are around the corner. At least this weather is FINALLY going to break soon.

      2. Thanks. I hope so, Rob. It’s freezing today. The sun is bright, it looks really warm, then you open the door and the wind says, “HAHAHA!”

  1. When I have those spells. I knock back a melatonin, but I know it doesn’t work for everyone.

The wind is downright obscene today. And we have a rain/snowstorm on the way Saturday. Old Man Winter is hanging out a bit longer.

    1. I can take melatonin, but I might have really strange nightmares. At some point, I probably will break down and do it.

The wind has died down somewhat now, but yes, it was almost bitterly cold from the wind.

      1. Still going here. It’s not balmy, I will say that much. Below 30 now.

I think I’d take the hit with the nightmares if it meant some sleep prior. Tough call lol

      2. I might try the melatonin tonight. I have some place to be in the morning though, so I’m not sure.

I wish it was back to 65 or 70. Then I could handle the wind.

      3. Snow? Ugh

Yeah, and supposedly you’re supposed to take melatonin before 10 PM. And allow yourself at least eight hours of sleep. I can still do it, but I’d have to do it now lol

  2. Bad, bad sleep. What are you doing to Amy? I had similar problems, and now I use lavender and sage oils in an electrical wax melt warmer. Instead of wax, I use water and add 5 drops of lavender and 5 drops of sage, and that does it for me.

      1. Wow, really? I’m out in about 10 minutes. Well, let me get with Kevin and beat that ‘bad sleep’ guy up. Maybe he’ll bring Mr. Gorilla. 🤣 Serious note, I hope that you can find a way to have a better sleep because is no bueno.

  3. I slept really well last night after trying to complete the ‘Easy’ Sudoku before bed. I struggled more than I care to admit and my poor little brain decided it was n’night from all the grinding of gears. Sleep was good, Pride was hurt 😦 Maybe just a search for the silver linings needed?

  4. Insomnia is that friend that we never asked to make and just doesn’t know when to get lost. Sadly, I know it all too well myself, makes for interesting times at work lol

  5. I’ve always had a nervous relationship with sleep, and now at 25 weeks pregnant it’s definitely no better. Everyone keeps telling me “just wait til the baby’s born, sleep will never be the same” but I relate enough to your post here to feel confident that I’ll be *mostly* fine
