Moonchild And Her Lion

Starcrossed

Yet adjacent

In the sky

She wants to feel the warmth

Of the lion’s yellow mane

Maybe

She’ll come close

In a billion years

Until then

His light

Caresses her softly

And she reflects

That which she can’t touch

But will always feel

    1. Thanks for the good idea to repost it today, Mary! Yes, that’s a good take on it, I agree. It’s funny because when I wrote it, I reread it and realized there are at least three different concepts going on in that poem. And now enters a fourth. 😊

It was a few months back when Kevin and I and a few others were discussing how a writer composes a piece with their own definition of what it means, then the audience perceives it in their own way, giving it a whole new life. So I really appreciate that this poem means something different to you than what it means to me. And yes, I can totally relate to what you’re saying and I see that interpretation there, as well now. I think it’s just fascinating how creating and then sharing with others opens up so many awesome interpretations of a piece.

      1. Yes, it’s wonderful. Poetry is like music in that way. So many different interpretations are possible and valid and interconnected. Your poems are really great.
