This DIY project is a lot more than I bargained for. The structure is OK, except for the neck area. That area has been condemned. Overall though, the structure is solid, though antique. It’s a registered historical site. The progress is slow, but the work continues. (The neck might need some scaffolding, though.)

“Absolute fuckwaffle” made me laugh. I need to hire someone to do yoga for me.

It made me laugh, too. I’m not sure if you hire someone to do yoga for you that you get the same benefits. 😆

Maybe Zoom yoga? A guy in Spain taught me the basics of axe fighting over Facetime several years ago.

Maybe zoom yoga. There are a bunch of choices on YouTube as well. Your entire second sentence has me speechless.😆

Are you saying you’ve never taken axe-fighting lessons? It’s all the rage in some circles, I hear.

I would beware those circles.

Probably best. I’m likely a bit more neanderthal than you. In any case, it was a short-term arrangement.

I actually have more Neanderthal than most people, believe it or not. But when it comes to throwing axes, I’m avoiding all circles. I’m glad it was a short term arrangement and I hope you learned what you needed to learn from that lesson.

Something antique is valuable. Some thing historical is to be preserved. Just sayin’!

As a member of the trashy neck brigade, I feel your pain, no pun intended. Definitely one of the crummier things I’ve dealt with in the last couple years. Mines not condemned quite yet, but it’s in need of reinforcement. lol

Better get the scaffolding 😊

Indeed. I think I can mitigate with a bit of chiro and a minimum of stupidity. No guarantees on the latter, though lol

lol! I don’t dare go back to a chiropractor. The scaffolding is hard to get back up once it’s removed.😆

I think I still have enough time to get mine slightly realigned lol

I used to go to one for years, but since I’ve had vertigo, no one can touch my neck. Not a PT, not a chiropractor, no one. Even occipital nerve blocks made it worse. I joked that I need a neck-ectomy.

Well, that truly sucks. Talk about good money after bad. Damn.

Yeah, the nerve does not like to be messed with. It gets on my nerves.😆

Yeap, I also have problems with the AF and traitor, those bastards. I also have some foundational problems but that’s a topic for another day. Nothing that some PR Rum can’t fix. 🤣

🤣 Just make sure you put your scaffolding up before you have rum.

Your DIY project sounds like a unique and challenging endeavor, especially with the complexity of working on a structure that’s not only antique but also a registered historical site. Taking on such a project requires not just skill but a deep respect for the craftsmanship and history involved. The mention of the neck area needing scaffolding adds an intriguing layer of complexity and suggests a blend of preservation and innovation in your approach.
Given the historical significance and the specific challenges you’ve encountered, what inspired you to take on this project, and how do you navigate the balance between maintaining its historical integrity and making necessary modern updates?

I’m not sure that it can get modern updates. It’s vintage. My inspiration for taking on this project is one of personal fulfillment and survival.
