Do you remember your favorite book from childhood?
Are we talking about baby books that older adults read to you? Are we talking about the first book you read to yourself? Are we talking about the books you would buy at the Scholastic book fair? The fair they had every year in the trailer, and you would walk in and it would smell like new books and you knew this was your place? Or are we talking about books you read as an older child, the books that formed who you are and showed you other worlds can exist. And not only can you read them, you can write them.
I am sure they’re all in my memory somewhere, but they all exist as one.

Howdy, stranger 😊

Starting a new job next week. Again. It’s only the third in a year 😄

Slacker. 😄 By this time last year, I had had three jobs, was on my fourth and about to leave that for my fifth. I hope this third one is the charm for you 😊

Yeah, I’m taking it easy. Plenty of time to get 4 and 5 under my belt lol
Thanks! Here’s hoping! 🤞

It’s going well, thanks! It’s hard to believe I’m coming up on my one year anniversary on 7/29 🤯

Crazy, isn’t it?
I didn’t quite make a year, but I am leaving exactly 10 months to the day from when I started lol

Wow, that’s quite coincidental!

Almost symbolic in a way 😄
Also going back to work for a former boss of mine. Things really do come full circle! lol
P.S. It’s nice to see you around again. You were missed.

It’s definitely symbolic. I would also say coincidental. Thanks, trying to be more present and get back into writing. I have missed it and I’m a bit rusty, but I hope to be around more regularly. 😊

Glad to hear it. I have been out of the loop myself a lot the past few months. Right now, I am just easing back in where I can.
Site director and HR director wouldn’t even look at me today. Guess I am officially a traitor now! 😲😄

Well, scratch that. Last night they actually asked me to stay on. 😄
I am told I am the first supervisor in the history of that building to be asked to.

😮 so what did you say?

I declined. My current situation(s) with health and such make it an unsustainable endeavor. Not fair to me or them to be running at diminished capacity.

I’m sure they understand. It’s a compliment to you and your work that they asked you to stay, but sometimes the best thing is to move on.

Yeah, it really is best for me and them. They need someone who can be effective in the longer term and I don’t have that in me right now. Currently, I need the lazy river, not the rolling rapids.

Scholastic is an interesting word. It’s meant to imply scholarly work. However, I went to St. Scholastica’s primary school, and she was a nun before becoming a saint. We learnt about her when of course we were about 7, but I don’t know whether she took on that Saint name for a reason.
She was the twin of brother Saint Benedict, and she started the Benedictine nuns.
Interestingly, her miracle to became a Saint was praying that a rainstorm would continue, so that her brother would be forced to stay longer, even though he was not allowed under the Benedictine rules. Her prayer was answered, and the storm continued throughout the night.
So maybe not too scholastic, but maybe the Benedictine Monks and Nuns were known for studying, hence ‘scholarly’.
Sorry for googling this and writing my own little blog in your comments.

I love this, Amy! Yes, this is so completely true and strikes me as a novel thought as well. ❤
